Education and Research
The American Contact Dermatitis Society (ACDS) is committed to advancing the care and understanding of dermatitis and allergy through the promotion of education, research, and advocacy. ACDS offers various educational resources throughout the year to members including grants, awards, webinars, a peer mentorship program, and more to encourage continued engagements aligned with the ACDS Mission and Values.
Awards and Grants
Annual Meeting Award Opportunities
- Alexander A. Fisher Lectureship Award is awarded in honor of Alexander Fisher, MD, honoring his contributions to the field of contact dermatitis.
- Alexander A. Fisher Resident Award honoring top resident presenters at the Annual Meeting
- Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Travel Award for presenters of an oral or poster presentation which focuses on diversity, equity, inclusion, or healthcare disparities within dermatitis.
- Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Poster Award honoring the top poster presentation at the Annual Meeting which focuses on diversity, equity, inclusion, or healthcare disparities within dermatitis.
- Fran Storrs Poster Award - honoring top poster presenters at the Annual Meeting
- Maibach Travel Award for presenters at the Annual Meeting who come from outside the U.S. to encourage a global exchange of information
- Contact Allergen Bee - an opportunity for residents to compete in a live, multiple-choice contest with winners awarded up to $1,000
Education and Research Award Opportunities
The following award opportunities have two open application periods per year. Complete submission deadlines are 11:59pm CT on April 15 and October 15 of each year as awards are available.
- Clinical Research Award for young investigators in the sub-specialty
- Mentoring Award to nurture young leaders in the sub-specialty
- Mid-Career Award to provide opportunities to enhance career development
The following award opportunities have one open application period per year. Complete submission deadlines are 11:59pm CT on October 15 of each year as awards are available.
- Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Healthcare Disparities Award focusing on the pathophysiology, epidemiology, diagnosis, management or prevention of atopic or contact dermatoses and their associated morbidity
- Outcomes Research Award to establish the value of expert specialist evaluation and management of chronic dermatitis

In conjunction with the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), the ACDS is pleased to announce the release of a new patch testing educational series. This course offers up to 5 hours of CME credit and is available for free to those who are members of the AAD.
