Call for Applications: Deputy Editors-in-Chief for Dermatitis
The American Contact Dermatitis Society (ACDS) invites applications for 2 new positions of Deputy Editor-in-Chief (Deputy EiC) for its flagship journal, Dermatitis.
Dermatitis is owned by the ACDS, and is the home journal for the ACDS, Societa Italiana di Dermatologica Allergologica Professionale e Ambientale, Experimental Contact Dermatitis Research Group, International Contact Dermatitis Research Group, and North American Contact Dermatitis Group. The journal focuses on contact, atopic, occupational, and drug/device dermatitis. It publishes 6 issues annually (on an every-other month basis) with an approximate total of 380 print pages and 60 online-only pages. For 2017, Dermatitis was ranked 19th of 66 journals in dermatology, with an impact factor or 2.403
The Deputy EiC will assist the EiC with: (1) manuscript screening, triage and review; (2) overseeing journal performance; (3) preparation of reports to the ACDS Board of Directors; and (4) other duties deemed useful to the journal on an as needed basis, including serving as EiC during any extended leave or vacation by the latter. A special responsibility for each Deputy EiC is to produce a themed, online only issue to be created in close consultation and coordination with the EiC and the publishing staff.
The Deputy EiC is a non-salaried position, but travel expenses to designated meetings (including the Editorial Board meeting adjunctive to the annual ACDS meeting and journal retreat meetings sponsored by the ACDS or the journal publisher) will be reimbursed by the ACDS.
Applications must include:
(1) letter of interest that states why the applicant is interested in the Deputy EiC and the strengths he/she brings to the position (300 words or less);
(2) CV including bibliography; and
(3) names and contact information of 3 individuals who the ACDS may reach out to regarding the applicant’s qualifications for the position. Current or past members of the Editorial Board of Dermatitis may apply.
Deadline for applications is April 1, 2018. Virtual interviews of selected candidates will be conducted by video or teleconference no later than May 15, 2018. The selected candidates will begin working under the guidance of Dermatitis Editor-in-Chief (EIC), Chito Cruz, on September 1, 2018.
Please submit the applications via email to Cindy.Froehlich@froehlichams.com.
Questions should be directed to the ACDS Publications Committee Chair, Golara Honari (Honari@Stanford.edu).
